Cartier Santos Carrée 2960 'Burgundy'
The Cartier Santos Carrée, seen here with a spectacular Burgundy Lacquer Dial and the ultra-rare Godron Bracelet.
The Santos, renowned as one of the world's first wristwatches designed for men, is a milestone of horological history. This Carrée reference from the late 1970s/early 1980s is particularly significant for pioneering the luxury sports watch look that defines the modern collection. This mens size only measures 29mm in width, but due to its integrated bracelet style design feels bigger than that.
Its standout feature is the vibrant Burgundy (or 'Oxblood') dial, a striking, deep red lacquer that offers a distinct and highly sought-after alternative to the traditional white Roman numeral design.
Completing this exceptional configuration is the seldom-seen Godron Bracelet. Distinguished by its unique, flexible links often likened to a 'beads-of-rice' style, the Godron was produced for a very limited time and elevates the watch's rarity, making this an exquisite and distinctive find for the discerning enthusiast. This example has been enjoyed thoroghly so don't expect a nearly new looking condition. However, it remains unpolished which in some cases is more important than a scratch free finish.
