Rolex Datejust 36
There are many variations of the Datejust, and this is certainly one of the most iconic. Worn by many stars over the years, it might be most known for being on the wrist of Patrick Bateman, the murdering investment banker starring in American Psycho. Funnily enough, Patrick's Rolex is mentioned 23 times in the book, but in the movie he is wearing a look-alike Seiko because Rolex didn't want their watch to be associated with a serial killer, and fair enough.
This "two-tone" ref.16233 was produced in 1988 and probably hasn't seen much wrist-time since. It has been serviced by Rolex Japan in 2016 and still comes with all documentation of it, but the original warranty paper is not with the watch anymore. Does that make this the fullest not full set? In the case of this piece, original papers are irrelevant, because the condition of the watch makes up for it. It is by far the most impressively clean looking vintage Datejust I have encountered in my watch selling career. This is probably exactly what it looked like when it was purchased new in 1988.
